Oh yeah definitely possible. I won't be surprised if they aren't quite that cold but I remember snow in Yosemite Valley over Memorial Day weekend before so late season cold storms are certainly possible.

^ Well, the storm is here. It's flurrying in town, too.

There's a fire just east of the 395 north of Lone Pine being fanned by the gusty winds. Hopefully they can get a handle on it before it threatens Lone Pine.

Nothing like a perturbing fishmas forecast..
"The ec now looks similar to what the operational GFS
looked like yesterday and brings a closed low over California and
Nevada for the weekend, ejecting it eastward as another wave drops
south into the pacnw. Ensemble spread in both models is
significant, to the point nearly each perturbation ends up with a
differing solution
. What can be gleaned from this is the weekend
is looking cooler with chances for showers and some thunderstorms.
However, the various features and placement of the low will have
major implications on the exact forecast." -Johnston/dawn

It seems crazy for Reno to already be posting about afternoon thunderstorms. Thank goodness for March at least this year!

Super windy driving home on the 14 last night. It's always windy in Mojave but last night it was really howling. Drove into Mojave around 10pm and the power went out and then came back on a minute later. A few minutes later it went out again. This repeated a few times while we were in town. When we left town we found the cause. About a mile south on the 14 there were a good 5 or 6 power poles blown down onto the highway blocking the right lane. I didn't see any sparking but we gave them a wide berth none the less. It was lucky no cars were hit when they came down.

GFS predicted back on April 18!

Are these even possible this late in the year? Snow levels below 4000 ft?

That sure does look impressive for May. I don't want to get my hopes up too much though.
