^that QPF is based on the stationary low over Nevada and the mid lat low (both can be seen on the map) prog to move in pushing that cut off out and rejuvenating convective storms cells thru the week. So expect some gloom for most of the week.

I wouldnt trust solutions this far out but this ec control run is showing the first sign of a heat wave for memorial day weekend

We enjoyed a couple of nice downpours this afternoon in town. Looked like it may have been spitting snow on the hill. Our poppies are in bloom with more ready to bloom!

FYI, in case you missed the small print on the MMSA website, the gondolas are closed mid-week for maintenance (this past week), 5/21-5/24 and 5/29-6/3.

Another amazing Sierra spring sunset after a cloudy, rainy day.

A little precip pretty much every day. The clouds and cooler temps should really be helping preserve the snowpack.

Tioga Pass opens Monday, 5/21 at 9:00 a.m. Bikes are allowed in on Saturday, 5/19.

The Lakes Basin road opened today at noon. I had the good fortune to have the time to drive up there at 12:30. So gorgeous! Gate still closed just above the Twin Fall overlook leading into Horseshoe Lake so I walked in. The USFS have to let that area melt out naturally due to the CO2 danger. Didn't have time to make it up to Lake George. Some hazard tree work going on and TOML crews cleaning the bike paths. God I'm going to miss it this summer.

This just in! Mammoth will be open daily for skiing and riding until AT LEAST June 17. Top-to-bottom conditions are awesome right now and there's still a ton of time to get up here and get your late season turns in.

That's great news. I guess the cool weather the last week or so has really slowed the melt off.

Thanks for the pics and hopefully you will get back up here from time to time this summer.

Can't sleep.

It began pouring in town around 12:45...still coming down at 1:45. Looks like there could be wet snow at McCoy looking at the light on the stairs at Parallax.
