And any other interesting world weather geek stuff that doesnt pertain to the Sierra and its weather or climate in relation to travel to Mammoth Mountain.

Marine layer just now clearing out. S wind below 10. Headed out of Dana Harbor in an hour for a 3hr tour. A 3hr tour.

So nice. Barely a whitecap leaving harbor after noon in Dana Point. Clouds came back about 5pm. Just a 10 or less S wind. Blue water about 5-7 off. Yay. If I could change my username I would.

Quote:
As is normal in June, we will see quite a few coastal eddy periods with deep marine layer and morning drizzle. Monsoonal TSTMS increase about June through August, What is significant in the longer term is the continued tendency for the long range model to show above normal rainfall in SOCAL during September, focusing into L.A.-Ventura-Santa Barbara Co’s, here appears an increased risk for rainfall in SOCAL during September, especially the southcentral coast and specifically Ventura-Santa Barbara Co’s. There is a higher than normal chance for upper lows to form off the coast of SOCAL and N Baja. This, combined with warmer than normal sea surface off Baja suggest greater risk of rains and TSTM events in SOCAL during September.

That would be nice.

Any luck fishing out there this year? I'm going for the first time on Saturday, but just far enough to mainly go for bass, halibut, maybe a yellowtail if we get lucky. I can't believe how cold the water still is!

Currently a wind chill of 9° at the top of Mammoth. Going to be a little firm early.
