Colder than the May Junes of the last 5 years re the super mega el nino where H dominated these months. But seems thankfully normal to me.

Well unisys finally went and changed their UI after all these years. No more direct linked gifs of wv. I found a server that will compile a gif for you but its bigger than 700px so it needs to be resized and hosted. Man this forum is old.

Anyway the afternoon monsoon buildup in MEX is ramping up. Kind of a squashed marine layer today. Dense and shallow.

If we ever get our non operational GOES working wont we have new images anyway from elsewhere eventually or do they only come jumbo sized.

Well noone serves up gifs anymore. Or very few. Html5 is the animation standard but it cant be embedded here. Single images arent going away and mostly need resizing anyway.

There has been some lightning over the ocean W of Baja Norte.
The blob dead center along the coast. Nice comma (bass clef) out there too. Bud hardly notable by Sat.

So I'm watching the USGS Kilauea live cam and a freaky meteorological thing is happening right now. At 11:07 am on the cam, a dust cyclone thingy out of Dune can be seen marching across the Kau Desert toward the crater:

Then as it approaches it causes the steam plumes to swirl too.

Now its inside the crater!

It will only be up another few hours, go check it out.

Hawaii in the tropics: check
Rotation: check

Actually do the tropics ever see tornadoes? They dont get many colliding airmasses do they?

^ Hurricanes spawn tornadoes, so yes. Tornadoes by themselves, no.
