Hey, June Mountain is open for the summer now, Friday-Monday. Go have some lunch up there, play some horseshoes or volleyball and enjoy the views.

Sounds like a fun way to spend a few hours.

It is, and you can hike to Yost and Fern Lakes from there. Skipunk and I did that a few years ago. It cuts out a lot of the uphill hike.

And they are serving June Lake Brewing's beers...

This was delightful today, especially now that the holiday crowds have departed. Not only did I ride for free with my pass, but paid for our lunch with my PassCash. And we got to watch a storm roll in!

Nice pics as always B. 8-) I really hope to make it there soon. It looks like a special place.

Closest I got lately was driving to / from Tahoe in early March.

Anyone else notice the old #8 QMC car on Clover Leaf on the Canyon Lodge cam? They're using it as an anchor for a path gateway for the mountain bike park.

Spent a really nice half-day at June today. Loved riding up the Poverty Lift® at a slow speed to enjoy the scenic view. Nice to see a decent amount of people there enjoying the food, drinks, and views. Smoke starting slowly moving over June just as the lifts closed.

For anyone that loves the view from June Mtn here's a large panorama that I shot this week.

High res: http://static.panoramio.com/photos/orig ... 028769.jpg

Before I resized it for uploading it was 18250x5400 pixels. That would easily make a high quality print 10 feet wide.

Nice shot SnS.

Where's Horse Tail Falls? Is it dried up?

There was a skate park proposal on the agenda for last nights June Lake CAC meeting. I have no other details though. A skate park in June would be great....

Hey June Lovers!
I've made it up a few times this season and realized that I :inlove: JM so much that I'm trying to make my first home purchase there! I'm curious if there has been an update to the proposal to replace J1, and if there are any other improvements/changes planned for the upcoming seasons? I see that closing is scheduled for 4/10 but haven't found any info about plans for the offseason...
Thanks!
~Ash

^ Well, congrats!!

I haven't heard or read anything about a J1 upgrade in quite a while. It's probably best to speak with your Realtor about this as that person could inquire to the PTB (Powers That Be) at MMSA to try and get the latest scoop.

As for JM's off-season, they usually reopen scenic chair rides on J1 around mid-June for lunch (and/or hiking) at the chalet Fridays-Sundays. This normally continues through Labor Day weekend except for when weddings are scheduled up there. Keep watching their website for details after they close the slopes for the season.

I haven't seen anything new but I'm pretty sure Mammoth is committed to replacing J1 otherwise some people will try to block the replacement of the Mammoth Mountain Inn.
