Instead, only one man in the stadium knows when they game will end but I can help with that a little: it never ends during an attack or counterattack or anything like that -- the injury time conveniently runs out when absolutely nothing is about to happen.
Soccer's Most Obvious Strategy Concept: Near the end of the match, it often becomes apparent that the home team's only hope is that the ref will throw them a bone by "accidentally" losing track of stoppage time (and add too much).

  • Other Tactic: Make sure twenty or so fans run out on the pitch for awhile, at the 89th minute.

1. Wassup with Schmeichel showing up dressed like a bumble bee?

2. Down he goes! Huh?

3. Comedy ensues. I think Benteke and Schmeichel are supposed to be the best players on each team, for those following along at home...

So I just know there's somebody reading this thread that can fill me in on some of the more nuanced tactics that fill The Beautiful Game.

1. Considering 17 of the Top 20 Goalscorers wear their hair in buns, why haven't the women soccer players figured out that's some sort of advantage? No women soccer players wear their hair in buns. WTF?

2. What's up with the furniture on the sideline? Do those chairs recline and have footrests? If the coach substitutes out a player cuz he just scored a terrible own-goal or something, is he still allowed to sit in one of those nice chairs? If basketball and baseball had chairs like that I don't think Willis Reed and Kirk Gibson would be near as famous. "Nah coach, leave that dude in. I'm good..."

Who will play Jamie Vardy in the mandatory biopic?

Non-specific studies have indicated women soccer players could enhance their goal scoring acumen by keeping a close cropped and spiky bleached haircut.

Interestingly, others with flowing locks have excelled with the application of grosgrain ribbon bows in their hair.

Hair flair and soccer are truly a thing, it seems.

I dont know a lot about soccer, but I'm pretty sure Klinnsman is going to be done soon. Shifty Rider would be a suitable replacement!

¡Chicharito! I think the live game is only in Spanish on TV due to the Manchester City rainout yesterday. These announcers are better anyway.

Just FYI - thought I'd mention it, since he's a local kid who's doing well in soccer, and wants to bring it back home to help out our kids:

====================================================================================

So, those of you who might know Christopher "Chino" Santana, he grew up playing soccer here in Bishop (Bishop AYSO, Bishop High class of 2010, UC Irvine div. 1 player, now plays for USL team OC Blues FC), and wants to help our local kids get to the next level. It's always a struggle to get noticed coming from a small town like Bishop.

Anyway, for the second year, Bishop AYSO alumni and professional soccer player Christopher "Chino" Santana (Bishop High, class of 21010, now plays for USL team OC Blues FC) is conducting a high-level training camp over the Thanksgiving weekend for all players who are looking for opportunities to improve, and to learn how to advance to the next level.

Chino is conducting this camp with his friends from from his former Division 1 UC Irvine team, professional player Tarek Morad (USL team Louisville City FC), Marco Franco (NASL team Indy Eleven) and others TBD.

We're so proud that he grew up playing AYSO soccer right here in Bishop. He knows how hard it was to get seen by college coaches and scouts since we're such a small community, and he wants to expand opportunities for players and their families to learn what it takes to move from recreational soccer, to playing Division 1 college soccer, and even into the professional ranks. He and his friends are trying to make sure that our kids, playing in our rural communities in the Eastern Sierra, have a chance to learn how to get to the next level. All players in the Eastern Sierra who are interested, please RSVP as soon as possible, as participation is limited. Ages 6-18 are welcome.

Please visit this website for full details on Chino's 2nd annual Thanksgiving training camp:

http://www.studiosoccertraining.com/thanksgivingcamp/

It will take place over the Thanksgiving weekend (Nov. 26-27, Sat-Sun), at Home Street Middle School, 201 Home Street, Bishop, CA 93514), from 10am-2pm.

He has worked hard to make sure it is affordable, and high quality. And, he especially wants to give opportunities for next level training for our local kids in AYSO. Please visit the web site to pre-register right away, to insure you have a spot.

If you have any questions, please contact Tarek Morad at tarek.morad@studiosoccertraining.com, or via phone at (949) 484-5425, or (909) 684-1147.

Thank you, and we hope to see you there!

Anybody ever notice how Liverpool Manager Jürgen Klopp seems to have something on his mind? In postgame interviews they can ask him the simplest questions, say "Did you know it was gonna start raining an hour before the match?" and he seems to agonize over thinking about things. Did he lure some midgets into a van, then boil them alive and eat them? Something is up.
